Wow! According to a report by Adam Jahns of The Athletic and national reporter Dianna Russini, Jaylon Johnson expressed his frustration toward Eberflus following the loss in Detroit, particularly regarding how the game concluded. The tension has been simmering in the locker room over the past weeks, as Eberflus has struggled to manage critical late-game situations effectively.
“Jaylon went crazy,” one Bears player said. “He was very emotional and pissed but rightfully so. He’s been here longer than most.”
Who can blame him? Eberflus’ inability to manage the game in critical situations has been evident for his entire tenure. And he rarely, if ever took accountability. Look at the total collapses last season in games the Bears seemingly had well in hand, not to mention his abismal record in close games, and complete failure to win on the road.
I really liked Matt Eberflus as a person. He’s a likeable guy. And I really, really wanted him to succeed. But likable doesn’t win football games.
